Advanced Class Fall 2005! |

Spring Advanced Class: Starts on the 9th of May 2006. We will start with the "Pork Fork" also know as the Hamms, in Wyo. (See my web page for photos of these hogs.) Then we will float tube up on Daniel's Res. in Idaho. That fishery has really made a nice come back. Trip number 3 is to the Madison River in Montana. Then we finish with a double, half a day on Lewis Lake and half a day on the Firehole River, both in Yellowstone National Park. It is a nice mix. I had a few students last year that were in double figures in under an hour on Lewis. I hope you can make plans to join us. Expect another e-mail that speaks to the Extreme class schedule. Tight lines-mike. |
The last trip to the Bear River was a bit disappointing. It wasn't the cold as much as it was the fishing. The river water got raised about 11am and the fishing was, for the most part over. Our high man only netted four fish. Many went empty, I'm sorry to say. That Bear however, is a beautiful river. Trust me, there many big fish in it. It does fish better than it did that day. For the 2006 Advanced Class, we are keeping the Green, Box and Madison. The Fourth trip, has yet to be decided at this point. See you this spring for the Spring Advanced Class. -mike |
The Fall Advance class was great fun. We had such a great group. Maybe the best people
ever. The weather was a little tougher with the wind on two of our trips.
The upper Green fished great with some nice pig rainbows showing up in the net.
The Macs we took were real plentiful and quite large as well. However the wind
played havoc with the strike indicators and the students hands. But it fished
good and I personally learned a lot about that specific fishery. Next year should
be even better. |

Big Bill is displaying one of his 7 pig rainbows he netted on the upper Green.
These fatties gorge themselves on the Kokenee roe that is thick in the water
this time of year. The Mac's (Lake Trout) arrive this time of year to not
only eat the roe, but to eat the Kokenee carcasses. Yes, they're big and
strong. We also catch Whites, Golden suckers, and Browns. |
The Box was real good too. I caught my personal biggest Box rainbow - 25in. but real, real fat. Most everybody was in double figures. We got some real nice fatties too. (Send some photos gang.) The Madison fished as well as it has ever fished. But, boy was it cold. It was a freezing blizzard. For those who roughed it (most did) it was very rewarding. Lots, and lots of nice fish in the net. Everybody caught fish, some students put more than 30 fish in the net. All, in all, a great trip West Yellowstone is a fun town in the Winter. I do love that Thanksgiving weekend in Montana. I have said many times that this is my favorite trip. This year didn't disappoint. We ran across a nice heard of Big Horn Sheep coming down off the mountains to the river. (Hey everybody, send me some 2005 photos for the Advance Class link. I know we took some photos on these trips.) |

Matt's holding one of the Fall Advanced class rainbows we netted in 2005. Join
us next year for the fall class 2006. Truthfully, fall may be the best
time of the year to go fishing. The days are shorter and colder, but the
evenings lies are bigger and the fire feels warmer.. |
